I paint simple objects. Through process, these simple objects are altered and elevated to become more than what they appear. My art makes a statement about the ambiguous, the revered and the sacred. I work with symbolic relationships of forms, light and color in an attempt to create a meaningful dialogue with the viewer using as little information as possible. I look for everyday objects to cast in an extraordinary light. My paintings are dramatizations about light and shadow in everyday circumstances. I think about the elevation of these vessels to spiritual heights. Forms merge to create a dynamic dramatization of an otherwise mundane moment. My paintings are first formal, modernist still lifes. Secondly they are metaphors about love, war, religion and loss.
